Big pick six and pick five carryovers will light up Saturday Belmont card

ELMONT, N.Y. -- Favorites won at a 40 percent clip through the first 28 days of the Belmont Park spring/summer meet. A correction was in order.
Well, that correction happened over the last two days as a bevy of upsets resulted in big payoffs and ultimately into big carryovers into Saturday’s 10-race card. Over the last 12 races, there has been only one winning favorite.
Thus, there will be a pick six carryover of $219,429 at Belmont Park Saturday as well as a late pick five carryover of $291,108.
There was a $59,977 pick six carryover entering Friday’s card after nobody picked the winner of the last six races on Thursday. An additional $279,741 was wagered into the pool on Friday.
Second choice Community Adjusted ($7.80) defeated her 3-5 stablemate Eylara to kick off the proceedings. That winner was followed by More Mango ($52), Big Q ($16.60), Bustin Bullet ($28.80) Happy Farm ($16.20), and Shinshun ($13.40).
Those who selected five of six winners in the pick six were rewarded with a $8,858. There is no consolation in the late pick five, which covers the last five races on the card..

There are 10 races Saturday so the pick six, which has a $1 minimum wager, begins with race 5. The sequence includes the Grade 3, $250,000 Poker Stakes (race 6) where many players are likely to single Masen. The Poker, which is the first leg of the late pick five with a 50-cent minimum, is one of four turf races carded for both sequences. Dry, though potentially windy conditions are forecast for Saturday so expect the turf courses to be firm and the main track fast.
