Big Macher likely for Cary Grant

Big Macher was a stakes winner at Del Mar's fall meet one year ago, and he is expected to defend his title, on Sunday, in the $100,000 Cary Grant Stakes for California-bred sprinters going six furlongs.
Big Macher won the Pirate’s Bounty, under similar conditions, on closing day of the summer meeting Sept. 7 in his first start since finishing fifth in the Dubai Golden Shaheen at Meydan. In his lone start since the Pirate’s Bounty, he was 10th in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Keeneland on Oct. 31.
In addition to Big Macher, the Cary Grant field is expected to include Acceptance, Avanti Bello, Bold Fantasy, Forest Chatter, Soi Phet, and Solid Wager. Raised a Secret and Red Outlaw are possible, and Peter Miller, the trainer of Red Outlaw and Solid Wager, said he was thinking of supplementing Got Even to the race for $1,000, wheeling him back eight days after finishing second against open company in an allowance race Saturday.
Acceptance worked six furlongs in 1:13, and Soi Phet worked five furlongs in 1:00.60, on Sunday morning at Santa Anita.
Entries for both the Red Carpet and Cary Grant will be taken Wednesday
