Big Macher gets extended vacation to heal injury

ARCADIA, Calif. - Big Macher, the five-time stakes winner, has been turned out with a soft tissue injury, trainer Richard Baltas said over the weekend.
Baltas said Big Macher will not return to racing until the late summer or autumn.
“He’s getting a little rest,” he said. “He’ll be out for three to six months. I don’t think it’s career-ending. The horse isn’t 100 percent.”
Big Macher has not raced since finishing seventh in the Cary Grant Stakes at Del Mar last November. He was 10th in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Keeneland last October. Claimed for $20,000 from a maiden race at Del Mar in July 2013, Big Macher was fifth in the $2 million Golden Shaheen Stakes for sprinters in Dubai last March.
“He went to Dubai and he’s been such a good horse,” Baltas said.
Owned by Tom Mansor and Tachycardia Stables, Big Macher has won 7 of 19 starts and earned $684,288.
