Bf Farm Boss enters PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity as fastest qualifier

Bf Farm Boss was too slow to qualify for the All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs even though he won a division of the time trials on Aug. 14. There is no doubt about where he ranks among the qualifiers for Saturday’s $375,000 Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association Breeders’ Futurity at Los Alamitos.

Bf Farm Boss set the fastest qualifying time of 17.41 seconds for 350 yards in trial races on Sept. 14, which makes the colt a leading contender in the final. This will be the second futurity for Bf Farm Boss, who was fourth, beaten two lengths, in the $945,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity at Los Alamitos in June.

Bf Farm Boss, by Hawkinson, races for breeder Don and Peggy Boyle, and is one of five runners in the PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity with major futurity experience. Old Girl and Off Beat were first and fifth in the $261,200 Kindergarten Futurity in May. Kickin Your Can and Hrh Walkonfire were seventh and 10th in the $352,500 Governor’s Cup Futurity in July.

Hrh Walkonfire

* He is one of six qualifiers trained by Jones.

* Hrh Walkonfire is unbeaten in two starts since the loss in the Governor’s Cup Futurity, winning an allowance race on Aug. 24 and a division of the PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity trials in 17.72 seconds.

Run By You

* The PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity will be the stakes debut of Run By You, who is out of Fovee, the winner of two stakes at Los Alamitos in 2011.

* Run By You, one of three fillies in the final, has won 2 of 3 starts, all for trainer Juan Aleman.

* She won a division of the trials in 17.63 seconds.

Old Girl

* With earnings of $117,734, she has the highest earnings in the field.

* Old Girl was trained by Jose Antonio Flores for her Kindergarten win, but is now with Lindolfo Diaz because Flores is serving a suspension for a medication violation.

* Old Girl won a division of the time trials in 17.65 seconds in her first start since July.
