Beware of Woodbine shipper

One could handicap Friday night's eighth race at Lone Star Park eight different times and come up with eight different horses. The first-level optional $18,000 claiming sprint at 5 1/2 furlongs has brought together a highly competitive group, including Woodbine shipper Outfitter, old-class runner Evening Reward, and popular local Western Forum.

Outfitter was close to a scorching pace in a first-level allowance at Woodbine on May 8, before finishing ninth. He will break from the rail Friday, and if he gets the jump on the quick Little Talk he might be able to control the pace.

Evening Reward could get a nice stalking trip behind those two, while Western Forum and Practice Tee figure to be making significant stretch bids. Practice Tee is cutting back from a mile and moving from turf to dirt. The last time he made such changes he earned one of his best career Beyer Figures.
