Beulah: Scout Me tries to repeat

GROVE CITY, Ohio - Defending champion Scout Me is one of 15 Ohio-breds entered in Sunday's $40,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial Handicap.

Scout Me is the 121-pound highweight in the 1 1/4-mile Ruff/Kirchberg but is winless in seven starts this year and drew the outside post in the large field. Beulah's leading rider Marco Ccamaque has the call on Scout Me.

Brother Darcy is the only 2003 stakes winner in the Ruff/Kirchberg by virtue of his four-length win in the Buckeye Native at River Downs in August. Jeff Johnston will be in to ride Brother Darcy, a 7-year-old gelding with 11 career wins.

Wedonit is a gate-to-wire threat in the Ruff/Kirchberg under jockey Perry Ouzts. Wedonit, a 3-year-old gelded son of Stalwars, has a record of 5-4-0 from 10 starts.- Dave Basler
