Beulah: Sarasponda best by a neck

Sarasponda needed every inch of the stretch to defeat five other Ohio-accredited 2-year-old fillies in the $50,000 Glacial Princess at Beulah Park.

Breaking from the outside post under jockey Scott Spieth, Sarasponda ($2.20) was taken back and to the inside, the best part of the track the past few weeks, before angling out into the stretch and rallying to get up by a neck in the one-mile race.

Trained by Joe Shuman, Sarasponda made it three wins in a row. She was sent off as the 1-9 favorite after the scratch of What's Left, the second choice on the morning line.

Storm by You set all of the pace while hugging the rail and led to the last two jumps under Hector Rosario Jr. to be second. Polly Pepperstone was third, eight lengths behind the top two.

Gloria Daze was in contention to the far turn where her saddle slipped and she was eased.
