Beulah Park: Kelly’s Pride wins hard-fought Glacial Princess stretch battle

Kelly’s Pride needed every inch of the Beulah stretch and had to overcome an inquiry and claim of foul to win the $50,000 Glacial Princess on Saturday afternoon.
A first-time starter for trainer Sergio Baez, Kelly’s Pride was the widest of three Ohio-accredited 2 year-old fillies across the track in the stretch. Pacesetting Circle Can Run was steadied late along the rail, and Long Blonde Angel was caught between horses. Kelly's Pride, under Juan Vargas, held on late to win by a hard-fought neck over Long Blonde Angel, while Circle Can Run finished third, four lengths back.
After a stewards inquiry, no action was taken.
Kelly's Pride returned $10.60 to win and ran the six furlongs over a fast track in 1.14.85.
