Beulah halts card after spill

Beulah Park in Grove City, Ohio, canceled its final three races Sunday after jockeys Orlando O'Farrill and Ramon Luna were injured in a three-horse spill. On Monday morning, O' Farrill was listed in critical condition and Luna in fair condition at Grant Hospital in Columbus. Both had internal and external injuries, a hospital spokesman said.

The incident occurred in the fifth race, when Naugatuck Sweetie, ridden by O'Farrill, was running just off the leaders leaving the half-mile pole and clipped heels with Uproariously Vicky and fell. Naugatuck Sweetie rose to her feet but was run into by Bialee's Clue, with Luna aboard. Another horse, Madam Mariko, ridden by Ivan Gonzalez, also ran into Naugatuck Sweetie.

Gonzalez was unhurt and got right up. O'Farrill was flown to the hospital while Luna was driven there.
