ARCADIA, Calif.- Bettys Bambino, the multiple stakes winner who finished last of three in Saturday’s $92,000 Sensational Star Stakes, has likely run his last race. Trainer Peter Eurton said on Sunday that Bettys Bambino emerged from the race with a “strained suspensory,” and will need at least eight months off. He said the partners that own Bettys Bambino will most likely retire the 7-year-old. “He could come back,” he said. “It will be a long time. I think we’ll get on the same page.” Bettys Bambino was 2-5 in the Sensational Star Stakes for California-breds on the hillside turf course. He was last throughout and was beaten 1 1/2 lengths by race winner Ambitious Brew. Owned by Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stable, and Joe Ciaglia, Bettys Bambino won 7 of 12 starts and earned $390,036. Plagued by injuries in recent years, Bettys Bambino compiled a five-race winning streak that ended with the loss in the Sensational Star Stakes. The winning streak included three consecutive stakes wins, all on the hillside turf course – the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes in December 2014, the Sensational Star Stakes in February 2015, and the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes last December.
