Bettor Trip Nick continues profitable month with victory in El Dorado Shooter

Bettor Trip Nick won for the second time this month, and recorded his first stakes win since 2019, with a front-running score in Saturday’s $75,900 El Dorado Shooter for California-breds at Golden Gate Fields.
Ridden confidently by Brayan Pena, Bettor Trip Nick was urged to the front from the outside in a field of seven shortly after the start and held a clear advantage throughout the six furlongs.
Bettor Trip Nick, who was favored, paid $5 and was timed in 1:09.46 after setting solid fractions of 21.98 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 44.50 for a half-mile. Bettor Trip Nick earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 87.

Riding With Dino (8-1) rallied wide to pose a threat in early stretch, but could not catch Bettor Trip Nick, losing by three-quarters of a length. Psycho Dar (8-5) finished third, ending a two-race winning streak.

Bettor Trip Nick won an allowance race at six furlongs on Feb. 6 by leading throughout, his first start since July and first start for Wong. Earlier in the week, Wong expressed concern about the rapid turnaround, but Bettor Trip Nick was as sharp in the El Dorado Shooter as he was in the allowance race.
Bettor Trip Nick won the Golden Nugget Stakes and Gold Rush Stakes for 2-year-olds in 2019. In his career, Bettor Trip Nick has won 7 of 17 starts and earned $271,630.
