Lauren King Beth's Dream wins the Sheer Drama Handicap at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.

Beth’s Dream moved closer to a potential start in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint with her four-length win in the $100,000 Sheer Drama Handicap on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

The race was designed to produce starters for the Grade 3, $220,000 Princess Rooney on Sept. 21, and the Win and You’re In qualifier for the BC Filly and Mare Sprint long has been a goal for Beth’s Dream, according to her trainer, Victor Barboza Jr.

The sharp mare has now won her last four starts, and all of those wins have come this year as she is unbeaten in 2024. She broke on top in the Sheer Drama, and raced with Imonra through an opening quarter in 22.93 seconds.

Beth’s Dream ($3.80) shook her pace rival through a half-mile in 45.87 and began to separate herself from her competitors in the later stages of the seven-furlong race. She covered the distance on a fast track in 1:23.05.

Emisael Jaramillo was aboard for Virginia Gamble, who co-bred the daughter of Jess’s Dream.

Earlier on the card, Chick’s Shadow rallied from off the pace to catch leader Swoonatra and win the $75,000 Frolic’s Revenge.

Chick’s Shadow ($18.80) won the overnight handicap for fillies and mares by 1 3/4 lengths. She covered the one-mile and 70 yards on Tapeta in 1:41.43.

Edgard Zayas was aboard the daughter of Seek Again for Dave McGinn and trainer Angel Rodriguez.

Multiple winners in Rainbow 6

There was a mandatory payout in the Rainbow 6 jackpot on Saturday and it returned $6,325.70. There were multiple 6 of 6 tickets.

Gulfstream posted on its simulcast feed that the pool reached more than $1.8 million. There was a carryover into the card of $189,837. The winning numbers from the sequence that ran on races 6-11 were 3-3-5-5-4-6.

The 20-cent bet opened with $38 winner Big Commerce, while the second leg featured $26 winner Zizka.
