Betfair Hollywood: DRF Plus handicapping report for November 7, 2013

Vulnerable FavoriteRANSOM CANYON (#1, 5-2) finished well on turf at this level at SA Oct. 14 to be beaten just 2 lengths, though that doesn’t make those who made him the 3-1 favorite that day feel any better. He does possess a nice late kick but his lack of speed puts him behind the 8-ball tactically as he nearly always leaves himself with a lot to do. Yes, trainer Miller is strong off the claim but his style and the fact it’s first time on synthetic make him risky business as the chalk. -Michael Hammersly

Spot PlayPUBLIC INTEREST (#3, 3-1) looks ready to bust through. A solid main-track sprint 3rd at DMR Aug. 28 was followed by a very nice 2nd in his first try on turf and first route at SA Oct. 6. Not only did he finish with good energy to be the runner-up, but he did so after a sluggish start from an impossible post (No. 12) and wide trip. And that run looks even better when you note that the horse he chased home that day (Empty Headed) came right back to beat winners. -Michael Hammersly
