Spot PlayFirst-time starter CHERUBIN (#3, 9-2) reportedly is quick. The Henny Hughes colt debuts with sharp drills including a bullet five-eighths followed by two sharp, short gate works. -Brad Free

Spot PlayMOBILIZED (#5, 6-1) destroyed a Cal-bred stakes over this surface & at this distance last spring coming off a 6.5fs turf race at Santa Anita, as is also the case this start. He should get a decent setup again, though would need something close to the published odds since there’s at least slight concern that late in his 7yo season he’s not getting back to his best. - Marcus Hersh
Spot PlayAlthough likely pacesetter CYCLOMETER is a “probable winner,” longshot closer SPIRIT RULES (#2, 8-1) can roll late to complete the exacta. ’RULES has won three straight on the BHP surface. -Brad Free

Spot PlayALWAYS A CHANCE (#1, 4-1) didn’t do much here Nov. 8, yes, but remember, that came on the MAIN track. While she handles that she seems to be at her best on turf. Well, it’s to the lawn she goes today and it’s great to see that not only did O’Neill feel good enough about her to plunk down $32K to claim out of that Nov. 8 race but he brings her back in a spot where he can’t lose her via another claim. -Michael Hammersly
Vulnerable FavoriteHIDETHEGOODSTUFF (#7, 5-2) might win, but she will be overplayed. Her improvement has stalled; she faces a formidable rival in LUXURIANCE. -Brad Free
