Spot PlayBENCH PRESS (#5, 5-1) has been away for a long time, but his work pattern looks very strong, the barn wins with long layoff comebackers, and unlike many in this $40K maiden-claimer, he’s not a six-figure purchase who has failed to pan out at all. - Marcus Hersh

Spot PlayFASHION PLATE (#5, 4-1) chased a hot pace set the by the highly promising Awesome Baby in her debut at DMR Aug. 4 and paid the price, fading to 7th. This gal has been given plenty of time to regroup since and she cost a pretty penny ($340K) so there are surely some expectations here. Not only was it nice to see Bejarano had the call for that first run but he stays with her, and a string of strong works including two recent bullets says she’s ready to go off the bench. -Michael Hammersly

Spot PlayPRAYER BE MINE (#1, 2-1) was bet off the board in Oct. 26 debut & showed why with easiest of wins despite the sort of lousy break that has done in many a 1ster. That was dirt, but this is the surface over which he’s trained, & I’d expect him to improve here. - Marcus Hersh
