Spot PlayKEVIN’S KOOL KAT (#4, 9-5) has been knocking on the door and while those last 2 nice 2nds came on SA dirt she’s proven he handles this track well. After all, maybe her 2 best races came on this track (ran 2nd in each). The good thing about those last 2 SA starts is not only do they show she’s sharp but they make her a proven commodity. It looks like graduation day. -Michael Hammersly

Spot PlayPAPA SMITTY (#3, 8-1) broke 10th from rail, rushed into hot pace, got into trouble, & checked in last of 11 in career debut on SA dirt. Classically lousy journey for rail-drawn 1ster who is held firm at $30K maiden-claiming despite $13.5K purchase price. Barn + ROI with 2nd-time starters. Nearly certain to show more now.- Marcus Hersh

Vulnerable FavoriteDISTORT THIS (#1, 7-2) will surely attract attention (money) due to the huge class drop but that drop is also cause for worry. After all, Guillot claimed him for $32K when last seen at SA April 19. The 4yo hasn’t run since. Let’s face it, you don’t claim a horse just for the sake of feeding it. And now, after nearly 7 months on the bench he returns for 1/4 that price. That may give him a class edge but they don’t give anything away out here. -Michael Hammersly
