Betfair Hollywood: DRF Plus handicapping report for December 7, 2013
Race 1 |
Vulnerable FavoriteWARREN’S JOE T. (#4, 8-5) has been stuck at the N2L level seven consecutive races. He has the highest figures and switches to the leading rider, but these restricted claiming races are generally won by droppers or recent maiden winners. Pass at low odds.-Brad Free Closer Looks >> |
Race 2 |
Spot PlayRunner-up in a highly rated race last out, MELATONIN (#5, 3-1) is ready for his maiden win. He finished nearly five clear of third at the wire; sharp horses trained by Jeff Bonde are reliable to hold peak form.-Brad Free Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayBIG MEDICINE MAN (#3, morning line 8-1) has looked in all three of his sprint races like a horse who would appreciate a second turn, & finally gets it here. Nice pedigree for a middle distance on turf. Should be ready now.-Marcus Hersh Closer Looks >> |

Race 8 |
Spot playThe improving WARREN’S VENEDA (#2, 9-2) stretches to her preferred route trip after a sprint win vs. state-breds. Her up-close style should play well in a field without much speed; a bullet work indicates she holds her form. Take her up the ladder.-Brad Free Closer Looks >> |
Race 9 |
Spot PlayPERFECT MAGIC MAN (#1, 5-2) ran better than the line shows last out. Blocked on the turn, he finished evenly for third. He already has the top recent speed figure, and on paper stands out.-Brad Free BRINGON THE WAIN (#2, 6-1) has had plenty of chances, yes (14), but the 4yo gelding may get his best opportunity yet. He was no factor at this level here Nov. 21 but not only did he break poorly that day, it was his first start in almost a year. He surely needed the race, it’s nice to see no drop or layoff since and Aguirre adds blinkers. There is little other speed signed up here and this guy showed speed prior to the long layoff so if he’s able to bring back that tactical speed it can lead to a very nice trip on or near the pace vs. a very suspect bunch.-Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |
