Vulnerable FavoriteRAVEN WILD (#3, 5-2) may go favored with the class drop but the 5yo mare hasn’t run in 10 months and her form vs. winners, albeit against tougher winners, wasn’t too inspiring, so you may be taking a shorter-than-should-be price on a gal who hasn’t run in a while, lacks speed and who hasn’t done much in 5 tries vs. winners.-Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayEXTENSIVE (#5, 7-2) faces easier than recent tries in N2X and stakes. He has won this condition (N1X) already, and is eligible because he in for the $40,000 tag.-Brad Free POLYTECHNICIEN (#3, 6-1) did lots of good work in Europe (Group 3 winner), came to the U.S. and after an initial run at DMR in August 2012 was then gone a year. However, it was nice that when Mandella brought him back he did so in a stakes. In fact, he gave this guy three stakes shots this past summer/fall. Alas, those waters proved too deep so apparently whatever sent him away for so long has taken a few lengths away from him. However, now you get a significant drop, a move with which Mandella has had success over the years, and it’s also nice to see there’s no layoff despite those last 2 dull finishes on the SA sod vs. tougher.-Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlaySWISS HEART is favored; RYDEROO (#2, 6-1) is an upset candidate shortening in distance. She ran well in her third-place debut, and was not disgraced last out in a turf route. She returns to a sprint, and has been training all season over this track.-Brad Free Closer Looks >> |
