Vulnerable FavoriteRAMBLING HOUSE (#9, 9-5) probably deserves to be favored after running 2nd in his debut and only start. That being said, it’s not like he was a real threat at any point in the lane (was beaten 6 1/2 lengths) and the Beyer came back pretty light (46) so he still needs to move forward, particularly if one or more of the firsters he faces here show up ready to go. And you’ll be taking a shorter-than-should-be price for that risk.-Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayRANSOM CANYON (#8, 5-2) may be ready to turn the corner. After a few so-so outings this summer/fall he moved to this course at this level Dec. 1, added Bejarano, and came up with a nice step forward, rallying to be 2nd. Bejarano stays puts and that last run may be a sign he’s ready to get back to top form, and that he’s found his niche in terms of level, surface and trip.-Michael Hammersly QUICK CIELO (#6, morning line 8-1) appears to have run the best race of his career in his only previous turf start, and it’s possible he might prefer a more conventional course than the one – SA down the hill – on which that start occurred. Should be sufficiently fit after staying-on route trip over synthetic in last.-Marcus Hersh Closer Looks >> |
