Bet Me Best takes Cypress

Bet Me Best went over the $500,000 mark in earnings Saturday night when he held off Itsacryingshame by a neck to win the $50,000 Cypress for statebreds at Delta Downs in Vinton, La. It was another two and a half lengths back in third to Prince Slew.

Zarb's Luck, winner of the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Sprint in his last start, was scratched.

Bet Me Best($6) broke well in the six and a half furlong Cypress, which was held around two turns, and led the field through six furlongs in 1:11.97. In the drive, he held off Itsacryingshame and covered the distance over a fast track in 1:19.01.

Jockey Steve Bourque rode the winner for trainer Doris Hebert.

Bet Me Best earned $30,000 for the win, which improved his record to 11 wins from 27 starts for earnings of $507,952. The gelding races for WinStar Farms and T. Collins.
