Bertsgoldenmissile wins closing-day stakes

BOOSIER CITY, La. - Odds-on favorite Bertsgoldenmissile prompted the early pace under confident handling by Lonnie Meche before drawing clear to win Saturday's $50,000 Gate Dancer Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Leestown Gift finished second in the closing-day feature for 2-year-olds followed by Milwaukee Miracle and Satyrs. Opposition Leader was a late scratch.

Trained by this meet's top trainer Jorge Lara, Bertsgoldenmissile ($3.20) won for the third time in seven starts and for the first time in stakes company. The son of Golden Missile won by 5 1/2 lengths and covered the seven furlongs in 1:24.24 over a fast strip.
