There’s only one race I’m interested in at Del Mar this afternoon, and it happens to be the co-featured Seabiscuit Handicap. I wrote about the Seabiscuit earlier this week in the Weekend Warrior column, but I’ll look at the race from a wagering standpoint here. Ohio wasn’t embarrassed in the City of Hope Mile most recently at Santa Anita, finishing third behind Sharp Samurai and Fly to Mars in a relatively paceless race; his effort two back – albeit against much weaker – was visually spectacular, and I think there’s reason to believe Michael McCarthy has figured out what makes this Brazilian-bred tick. The logical contenders are Synchrony and Pincheck, but I’m not enamored with them at short prices. I’ll be looking at each of them from a defensive standpoint, using them on top of Ohio in saver exactas while playing Ohio outright to win. Here are the plays: $50 WIN – (10) Ohio = $50 $10 EXACTA – 4,7 with 10 = $20 :: Want to get the latest news with your past performances? Try DRF’s new digital PPs
