The fields at Santa Anita are a bit light on Sunday afternoon, including the main event, the Grade 3 Tokyo City Cup. While it may be difficult to find giant prices, there do appear to be some interesting candidates for moderate win wagers scattered throughout the card. Here are three horses to consider Sunday at Santa Anita. :: Add Santa Anita Clocker Reports to your handicapping arsenal Race 4 He may not be what he once was (a Grade 1 winner), but DENMAN’S CALL (3) is still a solid racehorse when placed accordingly. After winning at the $32,000 claiming level two starts back over a sealed-sloppy track, Denman’s Call returned to disappoint at the same level over fast going on March 1. Today, Mark Glatt drops him back to a $25,000 claimer, which is a level he won at three starts back when making his final start for trainer Doug O’Neill. The class drop should help this 6-year-old gelding get back to his best, albeit at a relatively short price. Race 6 – Tokyo City Cup ACKER (2) has never gone this far in his career and he’s predominantly been campaigned on the grass, but we’ve seen time and time again – if you allow a horse to dictate terms on the front end without challenging them in dirt marathons, they can make you pay. Claimed out of his last race by John Sadler, Acker projects to clear to the lead in a short field of five, and if he’s able to set tepid fractions during the early portion of the run, he could get brave. Race 7 It’s fair to wonder how good BREEZY BEE (2) is, given she’s had eight chances to break her maiden yet remains winless. If you’re looking to be optimistic, a case can be made that this is her first real chance to excel doing what she wants in a reasonable fashion. Breezy Bee has run some of her best races in her second start off the layoff, yet she’s only been allowed to route on grass in her second start off the bench on one occasion, and that was in her second lifetime start. It would be difficult to fault anyone who remained unimpressed and stayed away, but I think there’s reason to believe Breezy Bee will give a good account of herself on Sunday afternoon.
