Bernardini filly puts up fastest furlong at Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita sale preview
A Bernardini filly turned in the fastest furlong work during the under-tack preview show for the inaugural Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita 2-year-olds in training sale on Monday at the racetrack.
The filly breezed her furlong in 10 1/5 seconds to lead the juveniles who worked that traditional distance. Consigned by Kings Equine, as agent, the filly is out of the winning Dansili mare Elbe, dam of two winners from three starters. Elbe is a half-sister to stakes winner Posteritas, dam of Group 1 winner Mutual Trust and three stakes-placed runners; and to the unraced Ixora, dam of Grade 1 winner Antonoe.
A colt from the first crop of Tapiture led the smaller group of juveniles who worked a quarter mile, going in 21 1/5 seconds. The colt, who is consigned by Tom McCrocklin, as agent, is out of the Awesome Again mare Awesomekaylee, dam of stakes winner The Money Monster. Gradce 1 winner Steve's Friend appears on the catalog page.
A Creative Cause colt was the only horse to work three furlongs, going in 36 3/5 seconds for consignor Havens Bloodstock, as agent. Twenty juveniles, from seven different consignments, galloped for prospective buyers during the preview.
