Berg wins Dogwood's Dominion Award

Racing steward Pam Berg, who single-handedly runs the , the home of 28 injured and retired racehorses in Northern California, is the 2004 Dogwood Dominion Award winner, W. Cothran "Cot" Campbell, president of Dogwood Stable announced Tuesday.

Berg is the 12th recipient of the award that honors an "unsung hero" in racing. She will receive a $5,000 check for GEVA and bronze statue of Dominion, Dogwood's multiple stakes winner who became a five-time champion sire in England, at an Aug. 4 luncheon in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Judges Anne Campbell, Penny Chenery and Jerry Bailey selected her from 54 nominees.
