Bentornato ran his record to 2 for 2 on Saturday when he stormed to a 4 1/4-length win over Gentle Breeze in the $90,000 Proud Man at Gulfstream Park.
It was another neck back in third to Reaper.
The Proud Man was for 2-year-olds over six furlongs.
Bentornato ($8.60) came away with the lead after a contested opening quarter in 21.93 seconds and continued on through a half-mile in 45.15. He had more in the stretch, going on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:10.28.
Emisael Jaramillo was aboard for trainer Jose D’Angelo.
D’Angelo said earlier this month the Proud Man would serve as a springboard to the Florida Sire Stakes for Bentornato, whose maiden win came at Gulfstream.
Bentornato is a son of Valiant Minister who races for Leon King Stable. He earned $62,830 for his win Saturday.
Jaramillo guided Coco ($5.40) to a seven-length victory in the $60,000 Wasted Tears one race before the Proud Man. She launched her bid on the backside, took control of the race late on the final turn, and went on to cover the 1 1/16 miles for fillies and mares on Tapeta in 1:44.18.
