Beneto reappointed to California Horse Racing Board
ARCADIA, Calif. – Steve Beneto, a Northern California businessman, has been reappointed to the California Horse Racing Board for a second four-year term, according to a statement released Friday by Gov. Jerry Brown.
Beneto, 78, was appointed to the racing board in May 2012. A resident of Carmichael, Calif., outside of Sacramento, Beneto is president of Beneto Inc., which specializes in airplane sales and leasing.
Beneto is a horse owner who raced the stakes winners Longview Drive and Via Villaggio with trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. He is a member of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Board of Directors and was inducted into the California State Fair Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2011.
Beneto was a member of the California State Fair Board of Directors from 2000-04 and 2005-11 and was chairman in 2001-02. The California State Fair has a race meeting each summer in Sacramento.
