Belmont: Talking Treasure best in Bouwerie

With a perfect outside stalking trip under John Velazquez, Talking Treasure took command in upper stretch and cruised to a two-length victory over My Kitty in the $115,200 Bouwerie Stakes for 3-year-old New York-bred fillies at Belmont Park. It was another 1 1/4 lengths back to Pastel Gal in third.

Talking Treasure raced four wide down the backstretch, sitting just off the leaders. Talking Treasure came outside of Salt Water Reign turning for home, made the lead in upper stretch, and persevered through the lane.

Talking Treasure, a daughter of Catienus trained by Charlton Bake, covered seven furlongs in 1:24.07 and returned $5.70 as part of the favored entry along with Flightofthepelican, who finished seventh.
