Belmont Park: Banker's Buy ends drought in Miss South Shore

Dave Litfin|Jul 17, 2011

ELMONT, N.Y. – Banker’s Buy, the longest price in a field of five New York-bred fillies and mares, caught pacesetter Cody Samora in the stretch and drew away to win Sunday’s $58,800 Miss South Shore overnight stakes at Belmont Park by 2 3/4 lengths under John Velazquez.

Trained by Nick Zito, Banker’s Buy ($11) ran one mile in 1:36.91 over a fast main track, and earned $36,000 in notching her first win since July of last year.

Cody Samora saved the place by 1 3/4 lengths over 2-1 favorite Go Unbridled, who trailed most of the way and rallied belatedly.

Mineralogist and Queen’s Harbor completed the order of finish.
