Belmont: DRF Plus handicapping report for October 24, 2013
Race 1 |
ANALYSISThought HANGINGWITHSONNY (#3, 5/1) made a deceptively good debut on opening day at Saratoga, putting in a solid stretch run behind a runaway, heavily-favored winner after stumbling at the start and being shuffled back; after a failed turf experiment, he was returned to dirt only to be caught four-wide throughout at a time when the rail was dominant on Belmont’s main track – as it has been for much of this fall meet. He’s cut in half by Bruce Brown for this, and because I think he may be better than he appears on paper, I’ll give him a go in the opener, which doesn’t feature that many interesting options. - Mike Beer Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYSFirster KATIE'S GARDEN (#4, 6-1) has some very nice works showing for the debut, and the presence of ALIANA, a big-figure 2nd in her own debut, should ensure a decent price; expecting this one to come out running. -Kenny Peck Closer Looks >> |

LIVE LONGSHOTMARGARET OWNZIT (#8, 12-1): After breaking in front and chasing in two sprints from posts #1 and #3, this 2-year-old filly stretches out to a mile and moves toward the outside. Another alert beginning may enable her to get the early lead in a match-up with no clear early pacesetter.- Dave Litfin Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYDYSPROSIUM (#8, 4-1) dusted rivals in his two career starts, both going two turns on the turf at Calder; goes first time Mott here today.-Chuck Kuehhas Closer Looks >> |
