Belmont Park
Belmont: Closer Looks for October 6, 2013
Race 1
Rumblefortheroses
Debut was most encouraging as he showed speed to duel from the start and really only gave way grudgingly in the final yards; that being said, that run came routing, on turf, for a tag - today we're sprinting, on dirt, and he's facing straight maidens; at least he showed speed and grit; 3 of 6 sibs to race are winners including Tajaaweed (5 wins, $314K, 2 SWs including a G3 in Europe and G3 at AP, also G3 SP at AP).
Harpoon
Gives Pletcher 2 big looks at this (also saddles the rail horse); this guy may be more formidable; after all, his debut came sprinting, on dirt (mud) at this level at SAR Sept. 2 and he was a very nice 2nd, well clear of 3rd (4 1/4 lengths);cost $500K so there are certainly expectations here; worked well since and blinks go on; all 5 sibs are winners including Cuvee (4 wins, $401K, won G1 Futurity, also G2/G3 SW) and Will He Shine (5 wins, $346K, G2 SW, G2/G3 SP).
Yankee Dime
Debut wasn't bad at all - showed speed to press the pace though he weakened late (today's foe Harpoon ran 2nd); can certainly move forward off that run, has worked well since and Trainer Nick takes off the blinks today; 2 of 5 sibs are winners including Elusive Schemes (8 wins, $160K, multiple SP in Northwest).
Hook Em
Sire Giant's Causeway gets over 9% 2yo debut winners, according to DRF sire stats; sire won 9 of 13 for $3 million including 6 G1 SWs in Europe, also 2nd in G1 BC Classic; dam's 1st foal; dam's 1st foal; dam had 2 2nds in 7 starts for $18K; some solid works for this first run.
Cairo Prince
Sire Pioneerof the Nile is 5 for first 24 (over 20%) with debuting 2yos; sire won 5 of 10 for $1.6 million, won G1 CashCall Futurity, G1 SA Derby, had 2 G2 SWs, 2nd in G1 Ky. Derby; dam's 3 foals are winners including Holdin Bullets (3 wins, $117K, SP) and Nonna Mia (2 wins, $127K, G1/G3 SP); dam won 6 of 13 for $240K, was 2-time SW, G3 SP; cost $250K and brings plenty of solid works into this first run.
Neoclassic
Broke slowly in his SAR debut Sept. 2 and never really picked up a foot, finishing a well-beaten 6th; still, you can always be forgiving about a first run, and he also caught mud that day; can benefit from that outing and there's no drop today; 2 of 4 sibs are winners.
Sunshine King
Sire Sun King just 1 for first 64 (1.5%) with debuting 2yos; sire won 6 of 28 for $2.2 million, was G2/G3 SW, 8-time G1 SP; unraced dam has 2 winners from 3 foals including Liquid Fire (6 wins, $73K); plenty of works though they don't hint at a lot of speed, do they?
Race 2
Sals Wonderfulgirl
She is a half-sister to The Green Monkey, who brought $16M as a 2-year-old in training back in 2006; this one is by a stallion who gets 21 percent juvenile debut winners and 19 percent 2-year-old winners overall; dam was a sprint winner; bred to win early.
State Visit
By a stallion who is getting 15 percent juvenile debut winners and 18 percent 2-year-old winners overall; dam is an unraced daughter of Empire Maker; shows series of forward works for debut; one to preview in the paddock.
Julie Napp
January foal is by a stallion who is getting 8 percent juvenile debut winners and 13 percent 2-year-old winners overall; dam was a Grade 3 winner at 2 who ran out $149K; leading contender goes for barn that wins at an above average rate with firsters.
Crashing Conclave
January foal has two career starts under her belt and that gives her an experience edge on these; moves back to the main track after a turf start; is by a stallion who is getting 17 percent 2-year-old winners, while her dam was a multiple stakes winner of $292K.
Co Cola
By a stallion who is getting 13 percent juvenile debut winners and 16 percent 2-year-old winners overall; dam was a sprint winner; fired a bullet from the gate in final prep for her debut for barn that excels with its firsters; win candidate.
Lochan
By a stallion who is getting 15 percent 2-year-old winners; dam won five dirt routes; this one fired a strong race in her debut, when second to a dominant winner after breaking on top from the rail; earned what ranks as this field's best career Beyer Figure; choice.
Race 3
Karakorum Elektra
Tries open company while cutting back a panel after offering little in her return to a course over which she's won 11 times; 9 year old isn't as good as she once was, but she earns numbers that put her in the exotics mix here, but don't know that she's going to get a lot of pace in front of her today.
Holiday's Jewel
First part of the entry was beaten as the chalk in each of her last 3 starts and now she'll cut back to a sprint trip; maybe she has some more to offer in the lane and takes to a tracking trip here, but Castellano gets off and this gal has yet to hit the board in 6 career spins over the local sod.
Quiet Ending
Late running sprinter always gives her all and she enters this one fresh off a near miss going shorter at the level upstate; each of her 3 wins has come here and that last out number is better than any of these has run in a long time; pace up top is a question, but she should prove a scary presence in the lane.
Believe in Charlie
Shipper makes her first start for an outfit that hasn't had any recent luck with its newly acquired runners; sophomore has only hit the board once on the green and she will be making her first start in over half a year in this spot; prefer to side with others.
Lawless Miss
Took a step back on the figure scale when stretched out in her local return and now she'll get back to sprinting for an outfit that does well with the move; 3 time local winner doesn't figure to offer much early lick and that's a concern at this trip, but a bounce back effort puts her right in the thick of this at a decent price.
Are You Dancing
She's another shipping in to make her local debut for a new outfit; 9 year old has only run once this year and she'll drop for this, but she's got speed and given the pace scenario on paper it certainly appears as if she'll be able to control things from the bell; one to run down.
Tiz Teresa
Outside drawn filly returns from Woodbine where she ran ok for third money in a slightly longer sprint off the freshening; she'll return to the scene of her maiden score for this one and she has shown solid early interest over the course; with Castellano taking the call she looks to be the one to beat in this spot.
Belle Gallantey
Barn's other half will meet the starter only if this one gets moved to the main track over which she was pretty impressive a couple of weeks back; she'll return to the N1x ranks here and doesn't have much early foot which can be a liability over the wet track she's likely to get if this is rained off, but she's in career best form right now and will catch a turf meant bunch; one to beat on dirt.
Race 5
Sky Colors
The last time he raced this far was on turf and a last-place fade; stalked the speed in his March, 2012, dirt win; finished last 2-back which was the last time competing on BEL dirt; been at his best on AQU Inner dirt where his career-best Beyer speed figure occurred in early '12.
Everyotherdayhero
Could not handle SAR dirt in last when pulled up finishing the last of 8; deep closer gets a good pace to rally into for this and should be able to save ground drawing an inside post position; the 2-back runner-up Beyered 79 in his next-out SAR alw. win; the 3-back winner repeated in a SAR-150K stakes with an 87 speed figure.
Bernardo
Entered Saturday as a Main Track Only in Belmont's 11th race at 3-1 morning line odds; dueled for the lead in last enroute to a new Beyer speed figure Top; the muddy track may have aided in that victory but the gate speed was a surprise as 2-back he broke 10th; gets winners for the 1st time which is often any runner's toughest assignment.
Comandante
The 1st race in a new barn was a co-career-best Beyer; the added 2.5F for this is an issue; in his only Mile race he missed the gate break but if can repeat latest when dueling for the front in a sprint figures to be the main speed here as the one to catch.
Sea to Sky
Lone win was accomplished on the lead over a muddy race track; he gets the win rider back for this; made the front in last on a wet oval and outran the 8-1 odds by completing the exacta; 1st BEL dirt start today for a 24%-winning fresh barn and a 25%-winning jockey-trainer combo since 2012.
Wise Guide
Distant 7th-place turf finish in his only race traveling today's 1M and 1-16th distance; was edged by the 3-back runner-up finisher who Beyered 83 in his next-out BEL-optional-claiming win; his form since that April show finish has been way off his best game.
Alcolite
Stalked the speed in last like when he graduated at AQU in 2012 but unlike that effort came up empty when the real running began; was listed at 7-2 morning line odds as a MTO in BEL's SAT 11th; the 2-back start represents a career-best Beyer on SAR dirt which seems to be his surface.
Petrocelli
Defeated the show and 7th-place finishers from last who Beyered 76-75 in next-out DEL-30K-claiming and MTH-20K-claiming wins; versatile stalker won latest on a wet oval but graduated on a fast-BEL oval; listed at 4-1 morning-line odds as a MTO in BEL's SAT 11th; 34 days away since posting a new Beyer Top when finally leaving turf.
Roaring Conquest
April, 2011, was his lone win in a GP-Mile MSW event on a sloppy race track rallying from 6th; posted a career-best Beyer on a less-than-fast oval and wants some moisture over the strip to see best form; rallied in last like he should be a big factor when stretched back out which he is for today's event.
Artie Luvsto Party
Defeated 1 runner combined in 2 races since claimed from the Jacobson barn; 7 weeks since off slowly then eased; 10%-winning 1st-off-the-claim trainer since 2012 does not help the cause noting his last win was right on the lead on BEL fast dirt but that gate speed has been missing in latest-lopsided losses.
Race 6
Rewrite History
Hung wide from the marooned slot to kick it off; dam earned $60K, was 0 for 4 on grass, was third in best try at 2; this is her first to race; must turn it around.
Sugar Gold
Touch Gold about 7% with first-time grass runners in a 327-horse sample; sire won juvenile debut, took Belmont, earned $1.6 million, never tried grass; dam 0 for 18; there is juvenile success in the tree but no siblings won on grass; may need softer.
Dream Theory
Freud about 14% with first-time grass runners in a 229-horse sample; sire was 2nd a half in debut at 2 at The Curragh at 6 furlongs on a yielding course, graduated there at 3 at about a mile on turf; dam 0 for 5; 4 of 6 siblings won; 4 raced at 2 to no avail but In Te Domine won 3 times on turf; needs to pick it up.
Gridley Here
Like the way he gained ground late in both starts; dam won once as older horse; lone half bro to race lost 4 times; he is figuring it out fast, respect.
Blue Shark
Colonel John 3 for 15 with juvenile debuters, 2 for 6 with first-time turfers; sire won twice at 2, took multiple Grade 1s, won only turf race; dam 0 for 7; both siblings won; one cashed at 2, the other won twice on turf; trainer has spotted them fine with limited starters.
Hard Rumor
Hard Spun 8 for 102 with juvenile firsters, 9 for 96 with first-time turfers; sire unbeaten in 3 juvenile outs, took G1 King's Bishop, never turfed; dam was unraced; several multiple race winners in the tree, 2 cashed at 2 including debut winner, 10-time turf winner and over $200K earner High Cry; he may have hated the mud.
Momma's Mark
Beyers going in the right direction and he could show more speed with the shades today; he was flattered a bit when the winner of last repeated in a $75K optional with a 72 Beyer; one for 16 dam cashed on turf as older horse; all 3 siblings won; 2 won at 2 and top kin Image of Disco won thrice on grass; don't ignore.
Hushhushmushmush
Took his share of action but passed basically tired horses; dam won at 2 but not on grass; several multiple race winners in the tree, one cashed at 2, several tried turf to no avail but kin Gold and Roses earned nearly $900K; he should enjoy added ground.
Gino and the Jets
Fusaichi Pegasus has hit with about 7% with first-time turfers after 341 starters; sire ran 2nd in only start at 2, took Kentucky Derby on way to near $2 million bankroll, never turfed; dam handled grass, won $150K; 3 of 6 sibs won; several ran at 2 to no avail, top kin and over $225K earner won 4 times on grass; look for rider to send hard and try to steal it.
Space Hero
Cosmonaut 0 for 5 with debuting juveniles, 1 for 4 with first-time turfers; Grade 3 winning sire earned over $1.2 million on turf, lost only start at 2; dam won twice at 2, lost only turf out; this is her first to race; never easy to win long at first asking.
Mohican Chief
Colt could have sulked after being bumped but he put his head down and tried hard; dam won at 2, was 0 for 1 on turf; lone half sis lost 6 times; figures right there when the smoke clears.
Woke Up Tired
Bernardini about 12% with juvenile firsters in a 114-runner sample; sire didn't run at 2, won his 2nd career start with a 90 Beyer, took 3 G1s; dam took debut at 2, banked over $200K; both siblings won twice, one cashed at 2; this guy cost a bundle.
Blue Chips Only
Gelding wasn't himself when he didn't want to go into the gate but stable excels with second shooters; dam earned nearly $140K, didn't win at 2; this is her first to race; rates long look if scratches are kind.
Deceived
Mirror races so far but not the 2nd and 4th finishers in the debut graduated next out and the winner that day took a state-bred $98K stakes next out with a 73 Beyer; dam 0 for 7; several multiple race winners in the tree including double juvenile winner and millionaire Naughty New Yorker; he has some talent.
Bluegrass Flash
Bothered early in both starts, he's due for a trip; dam earned nearly $200K, won at 2; 3 of 5 siblings won; 3 won at 2 including G1 winner and near $600K earner Discreet Marq; repeat of the debut puts him right there.
Race 7
I'm Steppin' It Up
Draws the fence for the turn back to sprint after a weak effort going long again at Delaware; it's been a while since this guy has won and he didn't show his customary early lick last time; maybe the new shades help him regain his focus, but there's plenty of speed in here; have to side with others on the win end.
Royal Currier
Worked well for Laurel's DeFrancis a couple of weeks back but caught a wet track and had little to offer late against that solid field; gelding returns to a track he likes, but he's been off his game for a while now and has a lot to prove in his current form; passing on him.
Say No More
Gelding showed good speed in the near miss upstate and earned a career best number in the process; there's some speed to his inside and out here and that doesn't figure to help him as he's shown little from tracking range; looking elsewhere.
Caixa Eletronica
Eight year old couldn't get to the loose leader at Saratoga last time and now he finds a tougher spot with more early lick; 22 time winner may not be as good as he once was, but he likes this trip and he should get a much better setup today; consider.
Praetereo
First part of the entry also chased a runner who had things his own way in the stakes ranks last weekend; gray cuts back a panel but he'll get pace in front of him and should be doing his better running in the lane; one to keep an eye on late.
Star Harbour
Had the sale sign on him when dropped in for a cheap tag at Saratoga and he was taken from the heat, but he also delivered a huge career best Beyer effort in that runaway score; 2 time local winner again figures to have his lick on display here and though he hasn't tried it in a while, he did win at this 7 panel trip last year; while he'll have pursuers it looks as if they'll have to run him down to win.
Spa City Fever
Barn's other half gets a new pilot after just failing to get up in the statebred stake here last time; he'll cut back for an outfit that does well with the move and he's get the positional foot to secure a spot within striking range of the leaders, but a minor award may prove to be his ceiling against these.
Power World
Took allowance foes all the way from the fence in the Travers Day opener and hasn't been out since; colt was thought highly of as a juvenile but though he's run ok at times he hasn't been of stakes quality; don't think he'll be able to go with these late.
Smash
Ships back in here after finishing off the board at odds on at Delaware in his return from the freshening; Baffert 5 year old hasn't been as good this year as he was earlier in his career and though he may be tighter for this he'll need to step things up quite a bit to prove a threat.
Race 8
Glassy Aly
Sire is 0-for-1 with 1st-turf starters; she is out of a 3-for-38 grass dam (156K); 1 foal to race on the green went 0-for-3; has never raced longer than 7F until today; rallied in last pair like she may like the added yardage; was claimed for grass?; exits a career-best dirt Beyer speed figure so may want this moved to the main track; her trainer only has 1 other 1st-off-the-purchase starter since 2012.
The Giant's Beauty
1-for-30 long-layoff trainer since 2012 does not help the cause; finished last in the grass debut when last seen more than 1 year ago; mild worktab on dirt where she finished better but owns her best Beyer on the lawn; will be taking a wait and see approach.
Today Not Tommorow
Outsider broke 11th in her grass debut then did not show much run thereafter; her debut last-place finish on dirt was dull also vs. Transplendid who is here for the rematch; 0-for-12 jockey-trainer combo since 2012 leads me to back others.
Rock N Cozy
Has had 3 consecutive troubled-gate breaks so have to toss those races out; her best game is early speed; she opened a long lead the last time sent 1 Mile which was July, 2012, on SAR sod then held on well for the show money; rallied in last like she will love the added distance today posting her best Beyer since October on wet dirt.
Peggy Virginia
The winner and runner-up finishers from last Beyered 72-67 in next-out BEL-optional claiming and 35K-maiden-claiming wins; sire is 7-for-107 with 1st-turf starters; is out of an unraced dam who's only other foal to race Rockheaded who went 0-for-1 on grass.
Celesta
Lone-exacta finish and best Beyer occurred at longer than this but in her last Mile-grass start she lost ground from stretch to finish; the new rider wins 25% for the barn at BEL since 2012 but the trainer yields just 9%-dirt-to-turf winners in that same span
Life's a Stage
Faded in last when a prior stalking trip produced the only exacta finsh of her career; the 5th-place finisher from last Beyered 73 in a next-out BEL-MSW graduation; she beat the 8th-place finisher a 14-length next-out winner with a 72 Beyer taking a BEL-MSW event.
Transplendid
Exits the 2nd lowest Beyer of her career with 1st blinkers but it produced her 1st exacta finish ever and on dirt; was best on AQU-wet turf when stalking the speed then finishing evenly; seems set for a good one 2nd time back off the 9-week absence.
Destinys Mystery
Sire is 2-for-22 with 1st-turf starters; she is out of an 0-for-17 grass dam (47K); 1 foal to race on the lawn went 0-for-3; major-distance test off the 5.5F debut rally; the runner-up finisher from last Beyered 55 in a next-out FL-MSW victory.
See See See
Lone-exacta finish on fast dirt but rallied on turf in last like she will enjoy today's extra furlong posting a career-best Beyer; the trainer is 0-for the last-20 with grass runners; she will need to find a stronger-late punch in deep stretch to land a major portion.
Prize Taker
Main Track Only entry faded racing 1st time ever on the lead while competing 1st off the claim; her best Beyer was at shorter than his on BEL-fast dirt; the 2-back main-track defeat by Glassy Aly is not easy to take so will be siding with others.
Race 9
Marvin's Miracle
He enters this race fresh off of a G2 stakes placing and it might be worth watching the Bourbon at Keeneland today before making any final decisions in this direction as Bashart was entered to run in that race; he's meeting a solid bunch, but not willing to count him out of it.
Captain's Affair (IRE)
He broke his maiden by the narrowest of margins against five rivals in his career debut, and even though getting back over turf might help him, it would have been nice to have seen him show more in his first start in America in his latest outing.
Sheldon
This is a tough spot to show up with a maiden but his career debut was certainly an encouraging performance and he's a 1/2 to stakes placed Gold N Glamore (3-7, 74k over turf); this is an outfit that is best known for turf success.
Shadow Banking
Full-brother to multiple G1 stakes placed Stormy Len (2-10, 261k, including 1of 7 turf starts for 217k) was dominant in his career debut and he has every right to prove to be tough to tackle in this spot based on the way that he performed that day.
Bobby's Kitten
One of two signed on in this spot for the barn of Chad Brown and the presence of Castellano is certainly worth noting; Ramsey-homebred has run well in back-to-back starts to begin his career and he has to be respected as a top contender.
Sandy Point
He showed up with a sharp try in his turf debut at second asking, but that was against 40-35k maiden claimers, and he's going to need to be ready to deliver a much stronger performance to get the better of a tough field like this.
Blue Pigeon
He jumped up on a field at just over 21-1 in his career debut and find it interesting that Clement sees fit to sign this New York-bred up for a graded stakes run after that performance; feel that he's eligible to give a good account of himself against these.
Otoy
Respect the early speed that he brings with him and he beat today's rival Sheldon two starts ago, but he benefited from a slow early pace that day, and he might not care for today's 1 1/16m distance; prefer to look toward others.
Due Diligence
Full brother to Console (3-6, 119k, including 2 of 4 turf starts for 87k) blitzed a field going 5 1/2f in his career debut and now he moves into a barn that is one of the strongest 2-year-old outfits in the country; the added distance is a concern, but have to respect his chances.
Race 10
Echale Salsita
Respect the improved performance she showed up with in her turf debut in her latest outing but this is an extremely aggressive spot for her to ship to New York for while meeting up with winners for the first time; prefer to look toward others.
Morethanawarning
This barn has had a quiet 2013, but this filly has run well for them in both of her starts, and she's a 1/2 to G3 stakes placed Catch the Glory (2-12, 87k over turf) and Catching (6-31, 146k over turf); feel that she's eligible to still have more to show us.
Miss Frost
She beat one of today's key rivals in Granny Mc's Kitten two starts ago and she ran well in earning a stakes placing in her latest outing; not willing to count her out of the mix and she might prefer employ rating tactics rather than being the pacesetter as she was in her latest outing.
Bikini Beauty
Not wild about Bernardini as a turf sire but this filly is out of a G2 winning dam who won 6 of 16 starts for 278k, including 3 of 9 turf starts for 192k, and it's tough to ignore how well this miss performed going seven furlongs in her career debut.
Duff One
She split a couple of today's rivals in her latest outing while earning a stakes placing and she commands her share of respect in this spot based on that performance; she owns the positional speed to help her negotiate a comfortable trip.
Sky Painter
She has a quality pedigree and the fact that she ran so well in her career debut might mean even more when considering that this is a barn that often has horses geared up for a stronger performance the second time around; Saez has won with 9 of 35 (26%) mounts for this barn in 2013.
Selenite
New York-bred miss is being handed a tough assignment for her first attempt against winners, and even though her turf dbeut in her latest outing can be viewed in a positive light, she's going to need to take a noticeable step forward to beat these.
Testa Rossi (FR)
Import adds a good deal of intrigue to this event and it looks like she did some nice work sprinting over turf in France; it's worth noting the success that this barn has had with imports, and the addition of Lasix is a positive as well; must respect.
Dancing House
Sire wins with approximately 12% of his turf starters and multiple G1 winning dam won 9 of 29 starts for $1.7 million, including 7 of 20 turf starts for $1.6 million; she helps form a strong looking entry along with Sky Painter and it looks like she trained well over turf at Saratoga on September 27.
Granny Mc's Kitten
Full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Kitten's Dumplings (5-9, 435k over turf) has been impressive in her first two career starts, and she beat a few of today's rivals in recording a stakes victory at second asking; Castellano has won with 8 of 26 (31%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting.
Candy Kitty
A slow early pace helped her get the job done two starts back at Saratoga and she was beaten by a few of today's rivals in her latest start; certainly don't want to ignore that she's going out for the Pletcher barn, but going to give the nod to others.
Sea Bubble
Half-sister to G1 winner Sand Springs (9-26, $1.2 million over turf) was much improved in her turf debut in her latest outing, but this has to be considered a tough spot for her to ship into New York, and this barn is 0-for-28 with starters on the NYRA circuit the past five years.
Race 11
Summit County
Note it took him about 3 weeks to post a recorded drill after the last race; lack of speed is a genuine concern but fact he won for this very tag in May could prove key; barn has been firing with everything; look for this guy late if at all.
Make It Gold
Blinks worked like a charm in the maiden breaker and he didn't run all that bad in last; the place horse in last cashed next out in an N1X, then ran out of the money; apparently not much of a work horse but he could be on the muscle fresh; must be left in the hopper.
Why Not Whiskey
He can be his own worst enemy at times since he has zero speed; he was boosted a bit when the winner of last repeated in an N1X with an 88 Beyer; could need state-breds to shine.
Wild Billum
Colt fits the conditions to a T; he has the 2 races to draw from now and he has trained well coming to this fray; Castellano got a chance to figure him out, should be making serious headway in the final furlong.
More Hundred Acre
Agile enough to overcome the slow start in the lone win; he has not looked like a happy horse of late as he's been rank in his last pair; not sure what to make of the drill on the 20th; a concern: he cost $320K and was up for sale in only the second out.
Wellington Wizard
The fact he won off the layoff gives him a shot to fire fresh and barn is solid with returnees like this; 6/16 show horse won twice since, the last in a $25K optional; gelding doesn't have to be 7th early on this time; this guy looks live.
This Is Nice (IRE)
Note she only beat 4 in the lone win; show horse in last took a $35K optional next out and 6th and 7th finishers took $20K claimers next out; note wraps there for stateside bow; try to get a good look at him on the track.
Torment
He's been on a good race/bad race thing since August; he has much more speed than he just flashed but he must find a way to turn the tables on Whiskey among others; needs the A game here.
Trusted Choice
First off, he had to be off for 15 months for a pretty serious reason; life and death for the maiden breaker and you don't quite know how much it may have taken out of him; would tread lightly here.
Mighty Ian
Once sent long he started to improve; he just toyed with the Philly foes in last and note runners in the company line were well clear; 8/7 show horse took a $25K claimer, then lost in a $20K seller; soph has much more speed than he just showed; valid factor if he gets a chance to suit up.
