For the second straight day, weather has prompted the cancellation of live racing at the Belmont at the Big A meet. Friday’s nine-race card was canceled due to forecasted high winds in the New York City area. The National Weather Service has placed a wind advisory from noon until midnight. Winds between 28 and 33 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour are forecast. Thursday’s eight-race card was canceled due to high winds and heavy rain. Aqueduct will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for simulcasting, which includes the Friday Breeders’ Cup program from Del Mar. There were two stakes scheduled for Friday in New York. The Tempted, for 2-year-old fillies, will now be run Thursday. Entries will be re-open and taken Friday. The Pumpkin Pie, for female sprinters, will be run Nov. 8, entries for which will be taken on Sunday. The pick six carryover of $34,908 that was in play following Sunday’s card, will now be offered on Saturday, when racing is scheduled to resume with a 10-race program including the Nashua Stakes for 2-year-old and the Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship.
