Belmont 2019 fall meet titles go to Brown, Franco, Klaravich

Klaravich Stables, trainer Chad Brown, and jockey Manny Franco all won titles during the Belmont Park fall meet that closed on Sunday. The 38-date season wrapped a tad earlier than scheduled, as heavy rains and winds forced Belmont to cancel following the first race Sunday.
The Klaravich Stables operation headed by Seth Klarman won the owner title with 10 wins, one more than Peter Brant, according to a press release from the New York Racing Association. From a total of 40 starts, Klaravich Stables had meet earnings of $903,765.
Brown won 28 races to top the trainer standings over Jason Servis, who finished second with 17. Brown was winning his third straight NYRA title this year, having taken the spring-summer meet at Belmont and Saratoga. He had 110 starts during the fall meet and those runners earned $2.7 million. Brown, who registered 10 of his meet wins in stakes, is a native of New York.
Franco won his first Belmont title with 44 wins. He was the NYRA’s leading rider in 2018. Franco had 248 mounts during the fall meet at Belmont, and those horses earned $2.8 million, according to NYRA. He is a 24-year-old native of Puerto Rico.
