Bell's the One gives sister sales boost with Raven Run victory

A yearling filly cataloged to sell this week at the Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale in Lexington, Ky., has picked up several catalog updates from her half-siblings this fall, most notably when her half-sister Bell’s the One became a graded stakes winner Saturday at Keeneland.
Bell’s the One, who is out of the winning Street Cry mare Street Mate, won the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland for her first graded stakes score. The Majesticperfection filly won the first four starts of her career before faltering when stepping up in class, finishing seventh in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes, second in the Grade 2 Eight Belles Stakes, and seventh in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes. Off for more than three months, she returned to finish second in the Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs to the Breeders’ Cup-bound Covfefe, setting her up for her Raven Run win.

Bell’s the One leads the three winners from four starters for her dam, Street Mate. The mare, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Tap Day, also has produced stakes-placed Running Mate and the winner King Cause. King Cause has pushed his career earnings past six figures since the printing of the Fasig-Tipton October catalog, with a pair of third-place finishes against allowance company at Belmont.
Street Mate’s yearling filly is consigned by breeder Airdrie Stud, which also bred and sold Bell’s the One, a $155,000 graduate of the 2017 Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale. The yearling filly is from the second crop of Airdrie sire Summer Front, a War Front horse who has produced Grade 3 winner Fighting Seabee in his first crop.
Street Mate’s filly was entered at the Keeneland September yearling sale, but was scratched to await Fasig-Tipton October, which runs from Monday through Thursday. The October sale has become a target destination for later-developing horses, including those who may have been scratched from earlier sales due to typical young-horse growing pains or to allow them more time to develop. The October sale showcases these yearlings to a wide swath of the domestic marketplace at many levels.
