Bell's the One being rested, will race as a 5-year-old

Bell’s the One, most recently third in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, will return for a 5-year-old campaign in 2021, trainer Neil Pessin said.
Bell’s the One currently is turned out at Chesapeake Farm near Lexington, Ky., and will join Pessin’s string at Fair Grounds around Jan. 1.
“She’ll probably have her first start of the year in the Madison if all goes well,” Pessin said.
The seven-furlong Madison will be part of Keeneland’s spring-meet stakes schedule in April. Bell’s the One won the Raven Run at Keeneland in October 2019 and was third in the 2020 Madison, which was held in July this year because of COVID-19. In the BC Filly and Mare Sprint, Bell’s the One fell a nose short of catching pacesetting Serengeti Empress for the place in a race dominated by Gamine.

“We weren’t going to win, but with a little better trip she could’ve been second,” said Pessin, who trains Bell’s the One for Lothenbach Stables. “Maybe she can even be a little better next year at 5 since she kept getting better through this year, and she’s only run 15 times in her life.”
