Belle Gallantey may get one more shot at racing

Belle Gallantey, the dual Grade 1 winner who ran fifth in her 6-year-old debut, may get another chance to run again, part-owner Michael Dubb said Monday.
Dubb said the horse will be evaluated over the next several weeks before a decision is made to run in a race like the $100,000 Ladies Handicap on Jan. 31 or to breed her. Belle Gallantey, the winner of the Delaware Handicap and Beldame, was purchased for $750,000 last November by S F Bloodstock as a broodmare prospect. She was leased back to Dubb, who campaigned her last year.
Belle Gallantey finished fifth as the 3-5 favorite in last Thursday’s Affectionately Stakes.
“She was probably 100 pounds too light, and it was probably a mistake to run her,” Dubb said Monday. “That said, she was training very well. Probably, if she puts weight on, we’d be inclined to try her one more time. If she doesn’t, we’d probably pull the plug.”
