Bella Dona will seek her eighth consecutive win Saturday when she returns to the 3-year-old ranks for the $100,000 Petticoat at the Downs at Albuquerque. Bella Dona’s streak – which started a year ago this week – has been built exclusively in stakes races and exclusively at tracks in New Mexico. Overall, the filly is 10 for 11 with earnings of more than $615,000. The Petticoat is a 6 1/2-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico. The field of six includes I’ve Got It, the only runner to have ever defeated Bella Dona. The upset came in a trial race at Albuquerque for the New Mexico State Fair Futurity. Bella Dona came back and won the finale on Sept. 19, 2021, in what launched her current streak. She had begun her career with three straight wins at Turf Paradise and Ruidoso Downs before the length and a half trial loss at Albuquerque. Bella Dona is a daughter of Attila’s Storm who races for her breeders, Robert Driggers and Del Rae Driggers, as well as Ben Lee Ivey. She is trained by Simon Buechler. Luis Fuentes has the mount from post 2. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match and FREE Formulator PPs! Join DRF Bets. Bella Dona’s streak includes last year’s New Mexico Cup Lassie in October at Zia Park, three stakes this year at Sunland Park, and back to back stakes against older rivals in recent races at Ruidoso and Albuquerque. I’ve Got It will start from the rail following a third-place finish in an allowance against open company at Ruidoso.  The Petticoat also drew Corrina Corrina, who is returning to racing with fillies after defeating male rivals last out in the $100,000 Casino at the Downs Derby on Sept. 4. The one-mile race was her third win over males, following an allowance at Sunland and the $100,000 Dine Stakes at SunRay Park. Corrina Corrina, who breaks from post 4, owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Speed Figure, a 79.
