Bejarano, Stevens changing agents
ARCADIA, Calif. – Jockeys Rafael Bejarano and Gary Stevens will each have a new agent in July.
Bejarano, the leading rider in Southern California, will be represented by Tora Yamaguchi, who replaces Joe Ferrer. Bejarano and Ferrer had worked together for 11 years. Ferrer has chosen to retire to south Florida, Bejarano said.
Yamaguchi currently works in the racing office at Southern California tracks and is the stakes coordinator at Santa Anita. He said on Thursday he plans to work in the racing office through the end of the Santa Anita meeting, June 28, and begin booking mounts for Bejarano with the start of the Los Alamitos summer meeting July 2.
Stevens will be represented by Ron Ebanks, who will replace Craig O’Bryan. Ebanks, a former agent who has been involved with other business ventures in recent years, will begin booking mounts for Stevens with the start of the Del Mar summer meeting July 16.
O’Bryan will continue to represent Tyler Baze, who is second to Bejarano in the standings.
