Beholder, Stellar Wind work towards possible rematch in Clement Hirsch

ARCADIA, Calif.- The champions Beholder and Stellar Wind had five-furlong workouts at Santa Anita on Sunday in advance of a potential second meeting of the year in the $300,000 Clement Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar on July 30.
Beholder and Stellar Wind were first and second in the Grade 1 Vanity Mile at Santa Anita on June 4.
Sunday, Beholder, a three-time champion who was honored as the 2015 champion older mare, was timed in 1:00.80. Stellar Wind, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2015, was timed in 1:01.40.
Trainer John Sadler has not committed Stellar Wind to the Grade 1 Hirsch at 1 1/16 miles. He said races at Delaware Park and Saratoga are being considered.
Three candidates for the $250,000 Eddie Read Stakes at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Del Mar on July 17 worked on Sunday. Si Sage, unraced since a win in the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes at Santa Anita in May , worked five furlongs in 1:01.60.
Flamboyant, who won two Grade 2 races in January and February and was fifth in the $6 million Dubai Turf in the United Arab Emirates in March, worked six furlongs in 1:12.20. Midnight Storm, the winner of the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile at Santa Anita on June 4, worked six furlongs in the same time. Flamboyant and Midnight Storm had the fastest times for six furlongs of 15 recorded works at the distance.
