The $300,000 Beholder Mile is the premier race for older fillies and mares on dirt at the winter-spring meeting.
Other candidates include Queen Goddess, a Grade 1 winner on dirt in 2022 who finished ninth of 11 in the Grade 2 Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Invitational at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 27; Green Up, the winner of the Pumpkin Pie Stakes at seven furlongs at Aqueduct in November; and Interstatedaydream, who won the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Stakes at Aqueduct last November for trainer Brad Cox.
Shortly after that race, Interstatedaydream was sold for $1.4 million at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale by Mike Repole. Green Up and Interstatedaydream are trained by Todd Pletcher.
Coffee in Bed, second in the La Canada, worked six furlongs in 1:13 on Friday, and is among the nominees for the Beholder Mile.
There are three stakes scheduled for March 9, including the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles, and the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes on the hillside turf course.
The Santa Ysabel Stakes was scheduled for March 3 and was postponed for six days after the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes was postponed from Feb. 4 to Feb. 10 because of a rain.
Kinza, who won the rescheduled Las Virgenes for trainer Bob Baffert, worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 on Friday.
In other works on Friday, the New Mexico stakes winner Two Rivers Over worked five furlongs in 1:01.40 for a scheduled start in the Group 2 Godolphin Mile at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on March 30.
Edwin Maldonado is scheduled to ride Two Rivers Over in the Godolphin MIle, trainer Doug O’Neill said.
Two Rivers Over won the Zia Park Derby at 1 1/16 miles on Nov. 28, and was fourth of seven in the Grade 2 San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita on Jan. 27 in his only start this year.
