No Hayne No Gayne

Three-year-old filly endured a tough trip on a four-wide chase vs. a solid field of maidens, over a track that was strongly slanted toward the inside. That she managed to get into contention and then hold her ground all through the stretch sugggests that she may not be a maiden for long.

Well-bred filly by Bernardini debuted in that same solid field with No Hayne No Gayne. She was off slowly and acting green while outrun in the early stages, then moved away from the inside – the best part of the track – and raced on well to the finish.

Expensive Tapit colt has some gate issues to deal with, and he may ultimately prefer shorter distances, but his last-place finish here shouldn't be held against him. He had no chance while stuck wide throughout over a strong inside track, and actually made a run to contention before giving way in the stretch.
