Beautiful Memories shows in work that she's just fine

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Beautiful Memories, eased as the 1-2 favorite after stumbling at the start of the Grade 3 Schuylerville on opening day, was back on the work tab here Wednesday, zipping an easy half-mile in an impressive 46.31 seconds. She shaded 23 for her final quarter before galloping out five furlongs in 1:00.03, much to the delight of trainer Mark Casse.

“We knew she was fine after the race, just a few scrapes, but it’s nice to see it on the track and know it’s still there,” Casse said by phone shortly after the work. “She went a little quicker than I had anticipated, but that’s what she does. She’s freakish. She had to work for the vet this morning, but that’s nothing. It’s required any time a horse pulls up in a race.”
Casse said Beautiful Memories will be pointed to the Grade 1 Spinaway on Sept. 6.
