Bear’sway targets Marine Stakes

Michael Burns Bear'sway (right), under Eurico Da Silva, prevails by a neck over Dragon Bay in the Wando for 3-year-olds.
Bear’sway started his 3-year-old season with an impressive victory in the $100,000 Wando Stakes on April 24 at Woodbine and will be pointed to next Saturday’s Grade 3 Marine Stakes, trainer Reade Baker said.
Baker said the time between the Wando and the Marine is shorter than he would have preferred, but options are limited for American-bred 3-year-olds at this time of year at Woodbine.
“It’s tighter than I thought, but what are you going to do?” he said.
Dating back to last year, Bear’sway has won three of his last four starts and in between was a close fourth behind Don’t Be So Salty in the Display Stakes here last November to close out his 2-year-old campaign.
