Be Vewy Vewy Quiet wins the 2017 Clarendon Stakes
Michael Burns Clarendon winner Be Vewy Vewy Quiet has been defeated at short prices in his last two stakes starts.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Be Vewy Vewy Quiet will make his turf debut in Sunday’s $100,000 Bold Ruckus Stakes for Ontario-sired 3-year-olds over six furlongs at Woodbine.

A two-time stakes winner last season, Be Vewy Vewy Quiet made his 3-year-old debut with a fifth-place finish in the Woodstock Stakes on May 5 over six furlongs on Tapeta. Trainer Robert Tiller opted to add blinkers for the Woodstock but was not pleased with the result and is removing them.

“He ran horrible,” Tiller said. “So, I freshened him up, and now I’m trying to run him on turf. He’s doing well.”

Be Vewy Vewy Quiet will be looking to regain the form that powered him to stakes wins last season in the Clarendon over 5 1/2 furlongs and the Frost King over seven furlongs. Eurico Da Silva, who rode him to a runner-up finish in the Bull Page Stakes last fall, regains the mount.

Key Contenders

Be Vewy Vewy Quiet, by Silent Name
Last 3 Beyers: 69-67-69

◗ Like some of his rivals in this field, Be Vewy Vewy Quiet has not worked over the turf training track ahead of this start. But his breeding suggests he will take to the turf. Progeny of sire Silent Name have a 12 percent strike rate in turf sprints over the past five years in North America, and while dam Advanced Green has not produced a turf winner, her son Jade Dragon recorded a 79 Beyer Speed Figure for a third-place finish on turf in 2016.

Ellas My Love, by Pool Play
Last 3 Beyers: 75-70-70

◗ After a troubled trip in the Queenston Stakes on April 22, Ellas My Love has run well in two starts against open allowance company, including a win over 6 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta on May 12.

◗ He’ll also be making his turf debut but breezed five furlongs in 47.80 seconds on the turf training track June 15.

Mizuchi, by Mast Track
◗ He’ll be making his career debut for trainer Angus Buntain but has worked quickly, recording a bullet four-furlong breeze in 46.20 seconds on the turf training track last Sunday.

Yallhaveaniceday, by Kentucky Bear
Last 3 Beyers: 79-52-64

◗ He broke sharply and cleared the field en route to a five-length victory going five furlongs on Tapeta in his most recent start May 21. He breezed five furlongs in 1:00.20 on the turf training track June 16.
