BC division polls start Monday

The 2006 Breeders' Cup World Championships Poll, a ranking of the top 10 horses in each of six divisions, will be published for the first time this year on Monday, officials of the Breeders' Cup and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, the administrators of the poll, said on Thursday.

The horses in the poll will be selected by 14 international handicappers and racing journalists. Eligible horses in the six divisions will include all horses that are active or in training, regardless of geographic location.

The six divisions all correspond to races in the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championship, including the Distaff, Mile, Sprint, Filly and Mare Turf, Turf, and Classic. Polling for the two other divisions, the Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies, will begin in September.
