Baze suspended five days

ALBANY, Calif. - Russell Baze, who leads the nation in riding victories, was handed a five-day suspension by Golden Gate Fields stewards Saturday.

Baze will miss the final four days of the Golden Gate Fields meeting (March 27-30) and opening day at Bay Meadows (April 2) after he was disqualified from first to second aboard Uncle Jack in Friday's second race. He would be able to ride in Saturday's $100,000 Grade 3 Berkeley Handicap because it is a designated race.

Baze just served a three-day suspension March 13-15.
