The schedule of 20 non-Breeders’ Cup stakes at the Del Mar fall meeting are largely unchanged from the 2024 fall meeting, with the exception a lower purse for the Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes. The 16-day meeting runs from Oct. 30 to Nov. 30 and includes the Breeders’ Cup races on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Aside from the Breeders’ Cup races, the 20 stakes will be worth $3.15 million compared to $3.25 million last year. The Bayakoa Stakes will be worth $100,000 and will be run on closing day, Nov. 30, a day with four graded stakes. Last year, the Bayakoa Stakes, run for fillies and mares at a mile, was worth $200,000 and was part of the Saturday Breeders’ Cup program in early November. After Breeders’ Cup weekend, the majority of the stakes at the fall meeting will be run on the final three days of the meeting, Nov. 28-30. The weekend features seven turf stakes, including two Grade 1 races worth $300,000 – the Hollywood Derby at 1 1/8 miles for 3-year-olds on Nov. 29, and the Matriarch Stakes for fillies and mares at a mile on Nov. 30. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
