Batavia: American Dealer N smashes all-age track record in Kane Memorial

American Dealer N, sent off at 12-1, turned in the fastest mile ever at Batavia Downs by winning Friday night's $75,000 Robert J. Kane Memorial for older pacers in 1:50 2/5.

Driver Joe Bongiorno hustled American Dealer N out from post five but would yield the lead to 3-5 choice American Courage (Matt Kakaley) nearing the 27 1/5 opening quarter. American Courage continued to show the way through a 55 3/5 half and a 1:23 1/5 three-quarters, but American Courage N shadowed him the whole way and rallied by in the passing lane in the stretch to prevail by 2 1/2 lengths. American Courage held second over Funatthebeach N (Jordan Stratton).

The previous all-age track record at Batavia Downs was 1:51 1/5 set by Aracache Hanover in the 2011 edition of the Kane Memorial.

Linda Toscano trains American Dealer N, a 5-year-old American Ideal stallion, for owners Enviro Stables LTD. and Ken Jacobs. American Dealer N posted his 16th career victory, he has now pocketed $401,221, and he returned $26.80 to win.

Bongiorno also won the single $119,800 New York Sire Stakes tilt for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters with Slay and one of the two NYSS divisions for sophomore trotting fillies that took place on the program with Valentina Blu. Both those horses are trained by Tony Alagna.

Slay raced in fourth and third through panels of 28, 57 4/5, and 1:26 3/5 and followed Molotov Cocktail (Brian Sears) from second-over. Molotov Cocktail forged his way by leader World At War Deo (Wally Hennessey) on the outside approaching three-quarters and turned for home first, but Slay out-footed him in the stretch, winning by a quarter of a length in 1:55 4/5. Velvet Style (Stratton) checked in third.

Crawford Farms and James Crawford IV own Slay, a Chapter Seven colt bred by Jonas Schlabach. Slay is now a six-time winner from 17 appearances, pushed his bankroll to $376,676, and paid $4.60 to win as the 6-5 second choice.

Valentina Blu posted fractions of 29 1/5, 58 4/5, and 1:27 3/5 on her way to taking her $57,000 sire stakes dash by a length and a half in 1:56 1/5. Seven On The Rocks (John Stark Jr.) was next, followed by She's A Scorcher (Jordan Stratton).

Valentina Blu is a Chapter Seven filly owned by Crawford Farms Racing. Bred by Spring Haven Farm and Doug Millard Holdings USA Inc., Valentina Blu has a record of 4-7-3 from 18 lifetime tries and has now earned $458,828. Due to New York State wagering laws regarding coupled entries, Valentina Blu was racing for purse money only.

Cash Infusion (Tyler Buter) scored in the other $55,900 sire stakes section for the trotting fillies. She brushed around In A Tiny Way (Stratton) to take charge after the 28 2/5 opening quarter, and after middle-half panels of 58 and 1:27 1/5, she came home in 28 2/5 to defeat La Vie En Blanc (Bongiorno) by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:55 3/5. In A Tiny Way ended up third.

Trainer George Ducharme also co-owns Cash Infusion, a daughter of Chapter Seven bred by Jonas Schlabach, with partners W.J. Donovan, Purnel & Libby LLC., and Joe Sbrocco. Cash Infusion made her sixth appearance in the winner's circle, has stashed away $201,847, and returned $4.40.
