Barretts to sell Bella stock

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Fifty-two horses from the holdings of Bella Thoroughbreds, a group with two principals who face charges of stealing $13 million, will be sold at the Barretts January sale.

The Bella Thoroughbreds stock, which will be sold through the agency of Madera Thoroughbreds and the Miners Trail Receivership, is only a portion of the horses affected by the arrest last year of Bella principals Bryan Rosenquist and Michelle Serrao. At the time of Rosenquist and Serrao's arrest, more than 100 of their horses were placed on the inactive list. The pair face charges that they used their positions as security company employees to steal nearly $13 million from Bank of America.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation alleges that Rosenquist and Serrao stole the money while it was being transferred to Bank of America automated teller machines.

Barretts will auction the 52-horse Bella consignment starting Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.

The Barretts January consignment includes 30 broodmares, 14 yearlings, three 2-year-olds, and the stallions Comet Shine (Fappiano), a Canadian champion juvenile, and Chuck's Bro (In Excess). The sale runs from Jan. 22-23 in Pomona, Calif. The complete list of horses in the consignment is available at www.barretts.com/bella.html.
