Barretts March selected 2-year-old sale catalog available online

The catalog for the Barretts March sale of selected 2-year-olds in training is now online, featuring 141 offerings. The one-day sale will be held Monday, March 3 at the Hinds Pavilion on the grounds of Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif., beginning at 2 p.m. Pacific.

A pre-sale under-tack show will be held Friday, Feb. 28 at Fairplex Park, beginning at 10 a.m. The preview will be streamed online at the Barretts website and video clips of each breeze will be available online by the afternoon.

Last year’s Barretts March sale featured 61 horses sold for $8,751,000, up four percent compared to the 2012 edition. The average sale price rose 31 percent to $143,459, while the median of $100,000 was an 18 percent gain. The buyback dropped slightly to 34 percent.

The sale was topped by a Malibu Moon colt, secured by Demi O’Byrne of the Coolmore partnership for $675,000. O’Byrne also purchased a Dunkirk colt for $575,000, who became Grade 1 winner and Eclipse Award finalist Havana.
